Realtor Headshots in Round Rock: What New Agents Need to Know
Why your photo matters more than you think — and how to get it right the first time
If you just got licensed, here's a fact nobody tells you in training: your headshot is about to become one of the hardest-working assets in your business.
Your brokerage needs one for the website. Your Facebook needs one. Zillow needs one. That yard sign your broker's putting your face on? Also needs one. And if you're feeling behind because you've been putting this off, you're not alone — it's one of those things that feels small until you realize it's literally the first thing a potential client sees before they ever meet you.
Here's what I've learned after photographing a lot of agents in this market.
Your headshot is doing more work than you think
In real estate, people are hiring you, not just a company. Before a client calls, they're scrolling your listing profile or your Instagram trying to decide if they trust you with the biggest purchase of their life. A blurry selfie or a five-year-old photo from your old job doesn't exactly scream "I've got this handled."
A good headshot does the opposite — it makes you look approachable, competent, and like someone who actually shows up on time.
What new agents get wrong (and it's not their fault)
Most new agents haven't had a professional photo taken since a wedding or a graduation, so they don't know what to expect. A few things that trip people up:
- Waiting too long. You need this photo before you're actively working with clients, not after your third closing when you finally get around to it.
- Trying to DIY it. Ring light in the bathroom mirror is not it. Neither is asking your friend with a nice phone camera.
- Not knowing what to wear. More on that in a second, but this trips up almost everyone.
- Treating it like a one-and-done. Your look changes, your brand changes, your energy on any given day changes. This isn't a photo you take once and use for the next decade.
What to actually wear
Solid colors photograph best — jewel tones and navy tend to be flattering across the board, and they hold up well against most studio backgrounds. Skip busy patterns and anything with a logo. We'll send you wardrobe tips by email before your session, so you're not guessing the night before. (If you want to talk it through with someone directly, that's included with our Most Popular and Personal Branding sessions.)
If your brokerage has a partnership with us
We offer special package rates for realty partnerships that purchase a block of 10 headshots. If your brokerage has a partnership with us, ask your office manager for your team's booking link — it's a quick appointment, you walk away with a photo you actually like, and you can stop avoiding this one thing on your list.
The bottom line
Your headshot isn't vanity — it's part of your marketing, whether you've thought about it that way or not. Get it done early, wear something simple, and let a professional guide your posing and lighting so you don't have to think about it.
